The rise of the the tattoo design

The art of tattooing is an ancient practice that began centuries ago. From its humble beginnnings until now, tattooing has evolved into a form of bodyart that encompasses a wide range of different issues, from markings that have a personal meaning to religious symbols and hobbies.

The popularity of tattooing has risen in recent years as shop owners realise the potential of the general market and the value of the average consumer who wants inked. Gruelling images of dirty, hard hitting basement parlours are long gone as the industry has become regulated and strigent laws are now in place.

The tattoo design process has changed, with a greater amount of artists opting to push for unique tattoo designs in replacement of generic tattoos found in a common tattoo gallery. Customising artwork is a greater challenge to artists and something both them and the consumer can be proud of.

Finally, if you want something even more unique, what about scarification? The process involves scarring the skin using a knife or branding it using a hot iron, leaving a permanent scar that can be shaped to an image, much like a tattoo. Not for the faint hearted though!
